State Government investment

The AARP was developed with a $28 million investment from the Western Australian government.

Developed and managed by DevelopmentWA, the State Government of Western Australia’s land development agency, the AARP is operated by CORE Innovation Hub.

The test beds became operational in 2023 with the Headquarters building officially opening in November 2024.

The AARP leverages the significant strengths of Western Australia.

The state-of-the-art facilities support local, national and global companies. Users are able to use one of the test beds, and have their project teams working on backend activities in the HQ building, all while connecting in with their head offices or other offices around the world – from the AARP in real time.

In time, it is anticipated that the AARP will service the global robotics and automation ecosystem, alongside other world-leading robotics development hubs such as the US, China, Korea, Singapore and Denmark.

History of the AARP

2024

November 2024

The Headquarters building was officially opened by Premier Roger Cook. Developed with a $28 million WA State Government investment, the AARP HQ facilities can now be used to support projects taking place on the test beds.

2023

April 2023

The entry road, test beds and service infrastructure are completed. Construction begins on the 1,200sqm Headquarters building to be powered by emission-free solar power linked to a battery and micro-grid network.

2022

August 2022

WA-founded CORE Innovation Hub are appointed to operate the AARP on behalf of DevelopmentWA. They start attracting, securing and retaining new partners and users.

2021

October 2021

Plans are approved and civil works start onsite to create the road and infrastructure networks. It is announced that the AARP will be one of the biggest test facilities of its kind in the world.

2020

July 2020

The Western Australian Government announced funding for the creation of a world-class automation and robotics precinct located in Neerabup, in Perth’s rapidly-growing northern corridor.
